Despite the fact that all of the leading data-protection vendors now consider Veeam to be a primary competitor (and threat), the company continues to rack up impressive growth stats. Based on our revenue estimates, Veeam appears to be on track to meet its goal of $1bn in revenue in 2018. However, although it's the top gun in VMware data protection, meeting that revenue goal will depend in large part on whether Veeam can maintain momentum in the Hyper-V backup/recovery market, as well as its ability to gain momentum in cloud-based data protection.
